Question by Tina: Can you use prepaid international calling phone card on cell phones?
I’m in the USA. We have normal nationwide plan.

If I purchase a prepaid international calling phone card, will it work if I use the card on my cell phone to call the UK?

Or will my cell phone provider (Verizon) still charge me international rates?

I know minutes will definitely be still counted as being used.

Actually, my girlfriends daughter has a Versizon prepaid phone and she buys her minutes at the gas station. Can I buy them cheaper online and if so where? I think she pays about 10 cents a minute now. That seems like a lot of money!!

20$ card= 20$

I use a prepaid calling card to call overseas from my Verizon cell phone. I dial the local access number before dialing the number of the person who i am trying to reach. Which number will show up on my Verizon bill…the local access number? or the number of the person who i am trying to reach?

The local access # will appear on your bill, as that is where your “official call” terminates, then they patch you through to your international destination. This is why they cannot charge you for international long distance, as you are not officially using any international towers.
